Bioinformatics Analyst
Position Summary:
As a vital member of the Helixworks team, this role will involve the organisation, cleaning, and curation of NGS data, ensuring their accessibility for both in-house and external users. You will play a crucial part in supporting the creation of scalable and innovative computational solutions designed for the processing and analysis of sequencing datasets generated through NGS technologies.
Beyond developing and maintaining pipelines, you will be bringing resilience into the bioinformatics team by supporting the production and delivery of sequencing data to internal R&D and external customers. This will involve specifically analysing, interpreting, and delivering sequencing data from company projects. This will require bioinformatics expertise, plus the interpersonal skills required to interact with team members and troubleshoot queries about their data.
Responsibilities:
Implementing data analysis pipelines for NGS data, with particular emphasis on nanopore sequencing data.
Develops new approaches towards data analyses for drawing important and practical insights for the molecular biology team. Curating the data generated & developing visualisation and reporting.
Design, model, and develop data management systems that integrate laboratory, operation and research data.
Support data analytics on a company-wide basis through collaboration with molecular biologists, and other software engineers to understand the specific requirements and constraints of NGS data analysis.
Discovery, integration, and validation of published software tools for post-sequencing analysis.
Seamlessly transition between different projects and adapt to changes in project scope or requirements.
Requirements:
MSc in Bioinformatics/Genomics or related field.
Excellent programming skills in Python and R.
Experience working within a Linux/UNIX environment.
Strong data analysis/interpretation capabilities.
Diligent documenter of code to ensure clarity, maintainability, and ease of collaboration.
Proficiency with understanding and clearly discussing fundamental theory and principles of experimental design, techniques and results.
Excellent time management and project management abilities with the capacity to quickly adjust and respond to changing circumstances.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, coupled with a proactive approach to independently acquiring new skills and knowledge, showcasing high learning agility.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of organisation.
Internal drive and initiative to take charge and accomplish tasks without constant supervision.
What we offer:
Competitive salary €37,000 - €42,000.
